The people of Temra count time in Ages, with each Age marked by a specific culture or mythological event or theme which defines it. The ages are (loosely) defined below:
The Age of Creation is when the First Gods made the world. It is also known as the First Age, and contains the rise of the First People, humankind.
The Age of Building is the time when Mankind spread to populate the world and came to rule its every corner. During this Age, humans built great civilizations, only to watch them crumble and then build them anew again.
The Age of Mankind is mankind's heyday, the age after they built their world-spanning empire and the age during which they reaped its rewards.
The Age of Heroes, also known as the Age of Change, is when the Changed Races appeared and the mortal heroes who became the Pantheon of Heroes lived. During this Age, the Heroes fought the Dark Ones and carved out the right to live their lives as they chose.
The Age of Integration is the Age when the Changed Races broke out of their smaller lands and spread across the world from Temra. This is also known as the Lost Age because knowledge of lands outside of Temra has been lost.
The Age of Decadence is the final Age before the Gate came, and marks the end of the Before Times. Conflict between humans and the Changed Races had mostly died down and most lived in peace and prosperity.
The Three Days of Fire is the shortest Age, and isn't really considered an Age at all, but it is an important marking of time. These are the three days directly following the Gate's first appearance on Temra and the three days that marked the emergence of magic. During these three days, according to mythology, power passed from the Old Gods to the Pantheon of Heroes, and the Dark Ones awoke as well. Supposedly, these three days also held the bulk of the fall of the human Empire.
The Great War or The Age of War was the war that destroyed Temrans' recollection of history, as the Dark Ones' followers razed temples, libraries, and all bastions of knowledge, and caused the races and peoples of Temra to turn against each other in a ploy to destroy what little civilization had left. At the end of this Age, the Pantheon of Heroes defeated the Dark Ones and closed the Gate, sealing them in the Realm of the Gods.
The Age of Rebuilding is the Age directly following the Great War and is considered to have lasted three centuries. It marked the rise of the Temrans as they are known today and the smaller wars that broke out and were resolved between them. The languages of Temra and the rough geological borders of Temra were marked out during this Age.
The Age of Harmony is the current Age, officially started four centuries ago, and while there have been wars, overall Temra has been at peace. Never has there been a war such as the Great War again, and the Kingdoms of Temra have formed alliances and treaties to prevent such a war from ever happening again. The races live in unprecedented equality, and only recently have the scholars given the age this name, sure that harmony and equilibrium will be the defining trait that historians remember this Age for, and in hopes that this Age of peace will never end.
