Name: Feran Corus
AKAs: N/A
Age: 20 years old
Gender: Male
Race: Living Vampire
Deity: Zer
Description: Feran is completely unremarkable as far as living vampires are concerned. He has a lean build and is taller than the average human like most vampires as well as stark white hair. However, he also has slightly darker skin than typical vampires as well as greyish blue eyes rather than the usual jewel tone, a mark of his human mother.
Feran generally wears a fairly warm expression unless he's on duty.
Family: Biological parents, one older sibling and two younger. (Three deceased siblings)
Allegiances: Vinhaven guard/military
Personality: Feran is generally a warm and friendly person with a calm demeanour, though is sometime prone to impulse. He dislikes sitting still and doing nothing so you can usually find him doing something even if it’s an activity as simple as reading in order to keep him occupied. One thing to note is that Feran is rather suspicious of humans so it takes much more to encourage him to trust one compared to individuals of other races.
Biography: When Feran's life began he was born into Kherton's vampire quarter, the capital of one of Estrin's city states, as one of many children of a vampire man and human woman. The vampire quarter of Kherton was like many others in Estrin; deeply disadvantaged, its inhabitants treated with suspicion, and often exploited by the city's guards that would come by to squeeze a few extra coppers from the community. However, not everything about their situation was so grim. Feran's father worked as a carpenter and while he may not have been in high demand among the city's general populace compared to human carpenters it did allow him to make enough money to feed, clothe, and house his growing family. It even allowed him to pay for limited schooling for his children, enough for them to learn how to read and write even though they were still far from being considered wealthy.
Despite their situation Feran couldn't say that his time growing up in the vampire quarter was wholly unhappy. He had a number of close friends among the other vampire children and even a few humans whose parents didn't mind their child playing with a vampire child (ignoring the fact that he'd yet to become a vampire at that time). There was even a girl he'd had a crush on as he'd reached early adolescence, though he never gathered the courage to tell her.
Even though they had a rather fortunate position in the vampire quarter it did not mean their lives were devoid of misfortune. He was only ten when a plague swept through Kherton and hit the disadvantaged communities the hardest despite the efforts of Hope's priests. It would claim two of his younger siblings before it finally burned itself out.
The loss that hit their family, and Feran, the hardest was his eldest brother Aymer. When he was thirteen his brother had gone to the neighbouring city-state of Cadena to look for work when he was viciously attacked by a group of humans in the street and killed. It was three weeks before his family received word of his death.
Aymer's death had been the final straw for Feran's family. Once his brother's body had been interred his father moved them from the vampire quarter and away from Estrin entirely. They travelled westward for months until they reached Vinhaven's capital city, one that many considered to be Jasson's "holy city" and home to a number of temples that had sprung up within its borders. Rumour was that the cities the Vincents called home were much more hospitable to vampires and it was for this reason that Feran's father had declared it their new home. It was here that he found his skills to be in higher demand and he was able to command a higher pay, enough to afford a better life for what remained of his family.
In his late adolescence people had expected Feran to follow his father into carpentry. He chose not to do so and instead signed on with the Vinhaven military at the young age of sixteen years old where he received training in how to fight with a sword and shield along with any other education that was deemed necessary. After serving in the military for four years he now spends much of his time escorting ground-bound diplomats between Vinhaven and other territories as a member of Vinhaven's guard.
